Made for television
Not a bad movie of the week. In the wake of the great ratings success of "The Night Stalker" with Darren McGavin as Kolchak, there were many made for tv movies with a horror theme. This was one of them, and David Janssen puts in his typically fine performance as a small town sheriff who investigates a strange murder that defies all of his experience, much as Kolchak did in his movie. I remember seeing this as a kid, and I enjoyed it for what it was. This is no "Wolf Man" but it has its moments.

Moon of the Wolf
Don't buy the spoiler reviews, this is as good as most Werewolf movie I have seen, and better than most.

Fun TV Movie
"The look of a tv movie"? This WAS a made-for-tv movie....one of those Movies-of-The-Week films.

Moon of The Wolf, not bad
It's scariest when you can't see the monster. The reveal isn't until the end and the music makes it more intense. Worth a watch. David Janssen's acting was classic Janssen. Geoffrey Lewis (sidekick from the Clint Eastwood movies)Plays the brother. He's always a good character actor.

Kind of "An American Werewolf on the Bayou"
Set in Louisiana, this film featured David Janssen in the lead role as sheriff. This has the look of a made-for-TV movie. Made in 1973, Janssen was already well known from the television series "The Fugitive" and his role in "The Green Berets" with John Wayne. Though not very original, and full of the same old cliches, it was still entertaining for the setting and a few plot twists and turns.
